October sees the continuation of spring, a new growing season and the first step towards Vintage 2019! As the vineyard is situated in the cool climate of The Macedon Ranges, frosts are a common event at this time of year. This year we have installed two new frost fans which are providing protection to all of the frost prone areas of the vineyard. The fans work by drawing down warmer air (the inversion layer) and blowing it through the vineyard.

Budburst has been a couple of weeks later than in recent years (which have been very early) and the growth is healthy and beautifully even.

Our resident families of Magpies are also enjoying spring and healthy growth as this chick starts to explore its surroundings 🙂

As the season progresses we’ll keep you updated 😀
